Renovation Update

With the first week of the renovation complete the amount of work that has been done is fantastic. 24 trucks of sod have been installed, all shaping work for #2 Green, 10 Tees, 1 Tee, 5 Tee and 9 bunker have been completed.
In this photo all sod has been cut around the green complex and the bunker on the left is starting to take shape. The bunker on the right will be removed and regraded to match current slope.

Members of the ground staff John Hunter and Shawn Moore are incorporating sand into the native soil to match our existing greens topdressing layer. This method is being used instead of coring out green expansion and adding a USGA greens mix. I believe that by matching exsisting soils on the green it will be able to be managed consistently across the putting surface and not retain more water in expanded areas if coring method was used.

In this photo all expansion work has been completed and bunker on the left has been installed and entire green complex has been sodded. The large practice green was utilized for # 2 Green expansion, the area of sod that was used will be seeded this upcoming week. Thursday of this week the bunkers will also be complete and sand will be installed to finish the construction process.
Native between #1/#10 is being used as dump site for sod being stripped off fairways. It also allows the contractor to stock pile top soil that has been used to construct new forward tees.

Here you can see our contractor installing the new Zoyzia sod to # 14. I will try to get a video up next week of the sod installation.
Here on the Zoysia Sod on #14 fairway you can see that roots have begun to form which is a great sign after 3 days. As always if you would like to have a guided tour of the renovation work please do not hesitate to contact Mike or myself.
